About Us
Where the fun begins on court
Herts and Essex Badminton Club, established in October 2023, was created when 2 existing clubs, The Wednesday Shuttles (Previously Warwick Badminton Club) and The Sunday Smashers Badminton Clubs (Hayley) merged. Both clubs have a long history in Bishops Stortford, having previously played at various locations locally before moving to our current home at the Herts & Essex sports centre, with an additional sessions at The Bishops Stortford High School.
We are a great place to play badminton, with players of all ages, genders and abilities playing across our various sessions.
We are Badminton England affiliated and participate in local leagues, currently competing in the Ladies, Men's and Medley/Mixed divisions of the Hertford Area Badminton League, Chelmsford and District Badminton Federation League and Braintree District Badminton League.

Our Club Nights
The Sunday Smashers
Two Sessions on Sundays, 4-6pm - Beginner+ and 6-8pm - Intermediate+ using plastics
The Wednesday Shuttles
Playing Wednesday 8-10pm, local league standard play using feathers.
Other Sessions
Additional sessions on Tuesdays, 6-8pm (Advanced Beginner+) and two on Fridays 8-10pm (Advanced Beginner+ with plastics or League Level with feathers)
