About Us
Where the fun begins on court
Herts and Essex Badminton Club, established in October 2023, was created when 2 existing clubs, The Wednesday Shuttles and Hayley/The Sunday Smashers Badminton Clubs combined forces. Both clubs have a long history in Bishops Stortford, having previously played at various locations locally, most recently at The Bishops Stortford High School before moving to our current home at the Herts & Essex sports centre, with an additional session at the Avanti Grange Sport Centre.
We are a great place to play badminton, with players of all ages, genders and abilities playing across our various sessions.
We are Badminton England affiliated and participate in local leagues, currently competing in the Men's and Medley/Mixed divisions of the Hertford Area Badminton League (under the name of Hayley Badminton Club).

Sunday Smashers
Three Sessions on Sundays, 4-6pm - Beginner+ or Advanced Beginner+ and 6-8pm - Intermediate+ using plastics
Wednesday Shuttles
Playing Wednesday 8-10pm, local league standard play using feathers.
